Gov. Rick Scott suspends Putnam Co. School Board member accused of grand theft

Nichole Cummings, 41, reportedly tried to steal nearly $400 in merchandise from Walmart on June 18.

Gov. Rick Scott suspended a Putnam County School Board member weeks after she was arrested and charged with grand theft.

Nichole Cummings, 41, reportedly tried to steal nearly $400 in merchandise from Walmart on June 18. She did this by using the self checkout line and only scanned a portion of her items, according to a Putnam County Sheriff's Office police report.

The police report also states she committed a similar crime on May 30 where she had several things in her cart like three fishing poles, but only scanned one.

She was charged with grand theft, which is a third-degree felony.
