Fletcher High School marching band raises $10K toward new instruments

After struggling to keep their instruments together with duct tape, members of the Fletcher High School marching band now have some brand new instruments to play.

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — The Fletcher High School marching band now has some brand new instruments to play thanks to generous donations made by the community.

In September, First Coast News learned that the band was using duct tape to keep its instruments from falling apart.

A GoFundMe page was started to help replace the aging equipment and has now raised more than $10,000 as of Sunday.

The band is close to reaching its goal but is still hoping to raise an additional $3,000 before the band's first competition on Oct. 12.
