Two local schools are hosting open houses Sunday following the sudden closure of Arlington Country Day School (ACD) over the weekend.

Parents were informed about the school's closure, which happened on Friday, by email from a school official.

It is with a very sad heart that I inform you that ACD is closed as of 1/26/18. I speak for all the faculty and staff who will miss your children greatly. It has been an honor to serve you and to be trusted with your children.

Records requests can be sent to We will make every effort to make the transition to a new school a smooth one.

Field trip money will be refunded next week.

There are no words to convey how much we are saddened by this. Many of you have been part of the ACD family for years and we thank you and are very grateful for all your support and kindness.

The email announcement, however, offered no explanation for the school's sudden closure.

The principals for two neighboring schools, Parsons Christian Academy and Arlington Community Academy, announced that they'll be hosting open houses Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for parents who have questions or looking to enroll their students in a new school. They said both schools will also have extra help around Monday to help families.

Cornerstone Christian School will also have an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday to start enrolling students. That school is located at 9039 Beach Blvd.

Christ's Church Academy at 10850 Old St. Augustine Road is also taking in those who need enrollment for their children.

La Core Christian Elementary for teacher and students. it is located at 8050 Lone Star Road.
