A day before Colley's defense is set to call its first witness, they announced on Monday that they are abandoning their involuntary intoxication defense in the case.

Last week, his defense didn't deny that Colley pulled the trigger, killing his wife and Dobbins back in 2015, but rather that his use of Ambien had put him in an altered state of mind during the shooting.

Colley's defense is scheduled to present their case on Tuesday and closing statements will be likely made on Wednesday.

The State has two more witnesses. The jury is expected to deliberate as early as Wednesday.

Regarding evidence, an agent pinged Colley's cell phone near the crime scene. Another agent said they found 29 rounds in an AR-15 and eight rounds in a handgun with one bullet chambered. They were all recovered from his vehicle, they said.

First Coast News will be livestreaming the court case both online and on Facebook.
