JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- 15 people have been arrested and more arrests are possible in what the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is calling "Operation Blue Hawk", an undercover sting to catch adults who try to met up with minors for sex over the internet.

Sheriff Mike Williams announced the arrests Wednesday afternoon.

11 of the suspects, ranging in age from 25 to 45, communicated with minors believed to be between 12 and 14 years old, Williams said. They were part of the first phase of the operation in late July.

Most are charged with use of a computer to entice a child to commit a sex act and traveling to meet a child for sex. They could face five to 40 years in prison if convicted, police say.

The majority of the suspects were from the immediate Jacksonville area, though one of them traveled from the Ocala to Jacksonville.

Police say one of the men left a six year old child at home in order to meet up with what he thought was another child for sex. That man, Clifton Markey II, is charged with child neglect.

Four more suspects were arrested in a second phase of the operation and a fifth is still on the loose.

The operation involved eight agencies in North Florida.
