An off-duty Sergeant was in the right place at the right time Friday when a plane was forced to make an emergency landing on US-17 in Green Cove Springs.
Sergeant Cox of the Clay County Sheriff's Office was off-duty when he noticed a low-flying airplane coming down on US-17. Cox immediately made a U-turn and stopped traffic, CCSO says, and gave the pilot enough space to land.
The plane's engine seemed to malfunction and an emergency landing was needed, CCSO says.
No one was hurt.
