A new Cannabidiol (CBD) dispensary in Southside wants to lead a movement against the opioid epidemic.
Natural Life opened its doors Saturday at 3503 Kernan Blvd in Southside and says it's products -- including CBD oil, CBD coconut oil, gummies and more -- could help reduce chronic pain, anxiety and inflammation.
Alex Petrick, operations manager for Natural Life, says the dispensary hosts a variety of products in order to provide consumers with natural options for their every need.
"If you take vitamins in the morning, we've got CBD capsules. If you like to cook, we've got CBD coconut oil you can cook with," Petrick said. "The oils, the gummies -- we've even got the industrial hemp flower itself."
Petrick says Natural Life wants to break stigmas surrounding CBD by educating the community about medical studies regarding CBD supplements.
Most important, Petrick wants consumers to understand that Natural Life is not a marijuana dispensary and their products will not get customers high.
"The difference is the THC concentration. In one route, you have to get a referral, and essentially a prescription, to get a medical marijuana license that can ultimately get you high," Petrick said. "Industrial hemp does not get you high, CBD is non-psychoactive, therefore you don't need a prescription to buy our products."
Natural Life opens every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Buyers must be at least 18 years of age.
