Bishop Kenny HS graduate dies falling from bunk bed at San Diego State University

A Bishop Kenny High School graduate died at San Diego State University after falling from a bunk bed upon returning from a fraternity party, according to a report.

SAN DIEGO — A former Bishop Kenny High School student died Sunday night days after falling from a bunk bed at San Diego State University following a fraternity party, according to a report from KFMB.

The report says Dylan Hernandez, 19, fell Wednesday upon returning from a party hosted by the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta, known as "Fiji."

The incident sparked an investigation into possible misconduct, resulting in the suspension of 14 fraternities across the university's campus.

"It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to say that Dylan Hernandez, the student who was hospitalized last week, has passed away," SDSU President Adela de la Torre said in a statement. "His family gave their goodbyes late Sunday night. The family has given the university permission today to share this information, and we are working to support them during this incredibly difficult time."

A GoFundMe page was set up by a friend of Hernandez to raise money for a memorial.

“Dylan Hernandez was a 19-year-old graduate from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida," the GoFundMe reads. "Dylan was an outgoing, light-hearted and goofy person who had so much love to give to everyone he met. He never failed to make everyone in the room smile and his laugh was infectious. He was a first-semester student at San Diego State University."
