St. Johns County beaches: What you need to know if you're celebrating the Fourth of July

There will be free shuttle services, beach opening delays and temporary beach closures for vehicles.

Planning to celebrate the Fourth of July at the beaches in St. Johns County? Here's some important information you need to know before you head out for the weekend:

FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE:

There will be a free shuttle service to and from Mickler's Beachfront and the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier from July 4 to July 7.

  • The Mickler's Beachfront Park shuttle will be picking up and dropping visitors off between Cornerstone Park, 1046 A1A North, and Mickler's Beachfront Park.
  • The Pier shuttle will transport visitors between the St. Augustine Beach City Hall, 2200 A1A South, and the Pier parking lot.

These shuttles will run every 20 minutes with the final shuttle departing at 4 p.m.

DELAY IN OPENINGS:

Due to expected tidal flooding, Porpoise Point will experience delayed openings from July 4 to July 7. The following times are estimated:

  • Thursday, July 4: expected to open at 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, July 5expected to open 1:30 p.m. to  7:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday, July 6: expected to open 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 
  • Sunday, July 7: expected to open 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

TEMPORARY CLOSURES FOR VEHICLES:

  • Vilano Beach is temporarily closed to vehicles.
  • Porpoise Point will be closed to vehicles starting at 7:30 p.m. on July 4 for the fireworks display.

Beach passes are required for vehicle access on all St. Johns County beaches. You can purchase them at any beach access ramp and the Pier Gift Shop, 350 A1A Beach Blvd. in St. Augustine.

Fireworks and alcohol are not permitted on St. Johns County beaches.
