30th Annual Wolfson Children's Hospital Bass Tournament reels in over $300,000

A team from Lake Butler, Florida took home $15,000 after winning the big fish competition along with the overall competition.

Over 1,000 fishing enthusiasts took part in a three-day bass fishing tournament that concluded on Saturday in Palatka, Florida.

Proceeds from the tournament support Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s heart surgery program and the new partnership with UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

A team from Lake Butler, Florida took home $15,000 after winning the big fish competition along with the overall competition.

Kenneth Owen and Cole Kite caught a bass weighing in at a whopping 10.87 pounds, making them the winners of the big fish competition. They went on to win the overall competition by catching a total of five fish with a combined weight of 28.84 pounds.

The Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament began in 1989 and is now one of the largest tournaments in the state raising money for kids. 

Next years tournament is set to take place on May 14 through the 16 and registration opens Feb. 2020.
