21-year-old shootout victim identified by police

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Darious Anderson.

The victim of a shootout that happened on Fredricksburg Avenue in the Northside Saturday night has been identified by JSO as 21-year-old Darious Anderson.

The people who live in the area where it happened tell me hearing shots like this doesn’t even surprise them anymore. Luckily, some say they were sleep and did not hear the shots. Others said they heard them, realized how close they were and had to take cover in their homes with young children. Witnesses say there had to be well over a dozen shots sprayed in the area, and several of them hit nearby cars and houses.

JSO tells us none of those stray bullets injured anyone inside the homes.

JSO says they responded to the call about the gunfire just before midnight Saturday and were told two unknown groups had been shooting at each other. Around 30 minutes later, police discovered Anderson had been brought to UF Health with a gunshot wound in a car that had several bullet holes. Anderson was pronounced dead there at the hospital, and JSO was able to connect that with the shootout scene.

JSO is asking anyone with information to call them, you can call Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous. JSO is still looking for a second vehicle with four doors and dark in color that was seen leaving the area.
