Loaded gun found at Terry Parker High, student taken into custody

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A student tip about a possible weapon on campus led to the discovery of a loaded gun on the Terry Parker High School campus Thursday, Duval County Public Schools said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A student tip about a possible weapon on campus led to the discovery of a loaded gun on the Terry Parker High School campus Thursday, Duval County Public Schools said.

A student was taken into custody and will face criminal charges, as well as possible expulsion, after he was found with the weapon, according to DCPS.

No students were harmed by the weapon, school officials said.

"Duval County Public Schools is very pleased with the responsiveness and cooperation of our students, staff and security teams," the school district said in a statement. "We ask parents and caregivers to talk with their children and emphasize their role in keeping our school campuses safe, and monitor items he or she may bring to school."
