Green Cove Springs Junior High School was on a brief lockdown Monday due to nearby shooting.
Before 2 p.m., a deputy with the Clay County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) overheard a verbal argument near the 1000 block of Center Street. Following the argument, shots were fired, according to CCSO.
CCSO immediately responded and took eight people - six men, two women - into custody for questioning and arrested one in the end.
As a precaution, CCSO had nearby schools placed on lockdown following the incident. All schools were released at 3:15 p.m., according to CCSO.
CCSO reports that no one was hurt and there were no injuries.
