JSO looking for suspects involved in shootout in Arlington

JSO is still looking for the suspects involved in the shootout at the intersection of Merrill Road and Wedgefield Boulevard in Arlington.

JSO is still looking for the suspects involved in the shootout at the intersection of Merrill Road and Wedgefield Boulevard in Arlington. Police said it began with an argument in the road, that sparked gunshots from people in two different cars. The two cars sped off.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots ring out at around 3:30 in the afternoon. Police arrived and found more than a dozen shell casings at the scene, right outside Community First Credit Union.

Two stay bullets hit the credit union while people were inside but fortunately they were not hurt.

"All of a sudden I hear this boom boom boom boom, and it was consecutive, it wasn't like just a shot here, a shot there," said Vickie Moore, who said she called police when she heard gunshots two blocks away. "The windows even rattled."

Police said after the shots were fired, one of the cars was seen speeding through a neighborhood just north of the scene off Wedgefield, landing in a front yard on Dalehurst Drive.

"Four kids got out of the car, ran across the street, behind those houses and into the ditch," said Lori Stirrett, a neighbor who watched the car spin out.

The car is marked with bullet holes and a blown out passenger window.

"One of them seemed to be hurt, the passenger," said Stirrett. "The driver got out in a hurry."

Police said later in the afternoon, two teenagers showed up at memorial hospital. One of them had been shot in the leg. They were wanted on unrelated charges and were taken into custody.

Police said they don't know if the shootout is gang related.

The spokesperson for the credit union said they will be open again Thursday.
