Jacksonville Beach digital pay-stations go into effect this weekend

Jacksonville Beach is going digital, or at least, their parking is.

Jacksonville Beach is going digital, or at least, their parking is.

Instead of parking attendants minding the lots in JB, you'll see pay-stations starting this weekend. The stations will serve as a smaller scale version of metered parking, asking drivers to enter their license plate information at a central hub and then print out a receipt that drivers can stick on their dash.

You can pay at the actual kiosk via credit card or by phone app (coming soon). The machine will only accept credit card payments.

The lots impacted by the change include Latham Plaza Parking, Pier Parking, the public lot at 422 1st Street North and the public lot at 450 2nd Street North.

Residents of Jacksonville Beach can register their vehicles for free through the City of Jacksonville Beach’s website and park without paying. Click here to register.

RATES

  • $3.00 for the first 2 hours
  • $1.00 each additional hour
  • $7.00 max per day
  • $12.00 all day rate for holidays and some special events

This is significantly cheaper than the going rates currently. On weekends, holidays and festivities, parking in Jacksonville Beach is $10.

HOURS

  • Friday (8:00pm-2:00am)
  • Saturday (10:00am-2:00am)
  • Sunday (10:00am-12:00am) *If Holiday falls on Monday (10:00am-2:00am)
  • Holidays (10:00am-12:00am)

Don't think that you'll be able to park at 7:45 p.m. on a Friday and get off scot-free. As soon as Paid Parking begins for the day all vehicles will be required to pay for any time after.

Disabled parking permits do not exempt someone from paying to park during hours of operation unless the vehicle is modified in accordance with Florida State Statute 316.1964(8).

The Jacksonville Police Department says there is free disabled parking available at every beach access parking area from 16th Avenue South to 16th Avenue North.
