JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --What do Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles and cornerback Jalen Ramsey have in common with a newborn baby in Jacksonville?
A lot, it turns out, because that baby, born one day after the AFC Championship, now bears their namesake, thanks to her parents' passion for the team.
As the Jaguars clinched their playoff berth in week 14, Ashley Miller was preparing for her own playoff birth as she was due the weekend of the AFC Championship.
"Oh, she’ll definitely love football in our house," said Ashley Miller.
So, as fate would have it, her newborn daughter and the Jaguars team became intertwined, mainly due to her husband Scott's persistence in naming her after a Jaguars player.
"I think there’s a pretty good chance she’ll grow up to be a Jaguar fan," said Scott Miller.
"I agreed to do one Jaguar name and somehow we ended up with double," said Ashley.
"I threw out Telvin and Leonard, because obviously we’re not going to name a girl Leonard," said Scott.
And so, on Monday, January 22nd, their daughter became…
"Blake Ramsey Miller," said Scott. "She’ll remember these guys for the rest of her life for sure."
These season-ticket-holding parents say all of their friends and family love the name, as do they.
"My mom liked it more than my dad!" said Ashley.
Perhaps the person who liked it the most though, is their second youngest Jaguars fan, their son Graham, who often sports a Bortles football jersey.
"Little Blake, my little Blake," whispered Graham to his sister.
"What do the Jags say?" Ashley asked Graham.
"Duval!" he answered.
“Duval” was also on the table for a name for a while, even if Scott said it was only suggested sarcastically.
"I told him no on that one," said Ashley.
It’s safe to say this little Jaguar fan is the truest form of a lifelong fan, representing the team from the moment she arrived in "Sacksonville".
The family says they would love it if the news made it to Blake Bortles and Jalen Ramsey, but more importantly, they're just excited to take their little girl home!
