According to The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, multiple streets were closed on Tuesday in Downtown Jacksonville to due to reports of a suspicious package.
JSO says the suspicious package ended up not posing a threat and they have since reopened Monroe and Duval Street.
Officers say that they responded to a call at 11:40 a.m. in the 400 block of East Monroe Street to initial reports of a suspicious item that resembled a grenade found in a parking lot behind a law office. JSO called in a Hazmat Team and cleared all nearby businesses.
When the Hazmat Team arrived on scene, they were immediately able to determine that the suspicious item was not a grenade and rendered the area safe.
Officers say that the item was likely there for a long period of time and did slightly resemble a grenade.
