Indictment: Tallahassee City Commissioner and longtime political consultant face 44 counts in FBI corruption probe

They are accused of racketeering, bank fraud, extortion, honest services fraud and bribery.

Tallahassee City Commissioner Scott Maddox, 50, and his longtime friend and political consultant Paige Carter-Smith, 53  were indicted on 44 counts for racketeering, bank fraud, extortion, honest services fraud, and bribery.

Maddox and Carter-Smith are also charged with many counts of bank fraud, false statements to financial institutions, extortion, honest services fraud, use of interstate facilities in furtherance of bribery, false statements to federal officers, conspiracy to interfere with the lawful function of the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”), and filing false tax returns.
