The group tested dental floss, baker cake plates, and the packaging for Albertsons' store-brand organic and conventional microwave popcorn.
Eight out of ten samples from Albertsons and Safeway stores contained elevated levels of fluorine, indicating they were likely treated with PFAs.
PFAs can remain in your body for years and have been linked to cancer, liver damage, and immune suppression. according to the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families group.
Researchers also warn the same potentially harmful chemicals are most likely found at other grocery stores too.
