Jacksonville Beach lifeguards risk COVID-19 exposure during rescues, bring up question about PPE

During a rescue, lifeguards may find themselves in close contact with a person, possibly risking themselves to COVID-19.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Being a lifeguard can be a cool job to some, but in reality, it involves intense first responder duties where every second counts when it comes to saving a life.

And with so much on the line to keep people safe in the water, there's also growing concern for the lifeguards themselves during the coronavirus pandemic, especially when they can't always wear face mask and shields to do their jobs.
