First Coast Foodies: Try a world of food at the World of Nations!

There are 33 different countries that will be serving authentic dishes, giving you the perfect opportunity to try cuisine from different parts of the world without leaving Jacksonville.

More than 30 different countries will be represented at the World of Nations this weekend, and you can bet there will be plenty of fun and plenty to eat.

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the event, which is being held at Metropolitan Park from Feb. 23 to Feb. 24.

There are 33 different countries that will be serving authentic dishes, giving you the perfect opportunity to try cuisine from different parts of the world without leaving Jacksonville.

First Coast Foodies stopped by on Friday, trying dishes from six different countries, many of which are popular within each nation:

  • India: Tandoori Chicken, an incredibly popular Indian dish (a somewhat spicy dish packed with lots of flavor)
  • Japan: Yakitori, or chicken skewers (a sweet marinaded chicken cooked on a grill)
  • Native America: Fried bread, Navajo-style (tasted similar to funnel cake with honey)
  • Poland: Golabki (cabbage rolls) and Wata Cukrowa (cotton candy)
  • St. Lucia: Oxtail and rice
  • U.S. Virgin Islands: Johnny Cake (similar to a sweet flatbread)

Foods include dishes from the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America.

Below is a detailed menu and what each country will be serving:

Dominican Republic Sopa de Jamon, Pan, Arroz Blanco, Tostones and Beef or Chicken, Bacalaito, Alcapurria

Admission for the event is $5. Children 3 years or younger get in free!

In addition to food, the World of Nations is a perfect place to branch out and experience diverse cultures from a wide array of art, music and festive celebrations.
