Woman's car caught in Arlington crossfire, reverses into ditch to escape

The woman put her car in reverse to escape the gunfire, backing her car into a ditch. JSO says her car was hit twice by the gunfire, but she was not struck.

A woman was unharmed after her vehicle was caught in the crossfire of a shooting in Arlington and rolled into a ditch Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told First Coast News.

JSO said two men were walking south on Acme Street near Jasper Avenue when another young man began shooting at them. The two men sought cover behind the woman's passing vehicle.

The woman put her car in reverse to escape the gunfire, backing her car into a ditch. JSO says her car was hit twice by the gunfire, but she was not struck.

The men involved fled from the scene and police do not have the identity of either.

Due to the shooting being close to Woodland Acres Elementary, the school was placed on lockdown until the area was safe.

If anyone has any information that could assist with the investigation you are urged to contact First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
