Woman killed in officer-involved shooting, crash on I-95 in Georgia

Investigators said the woman struck the trooper with her car during a traffic stop, prompting the trooper to fire into her vehicle.

A woman died Tuesday morning after investigators said she drove her vehicle into a Georgia State Trooper, who responded by shooting into her vehicle.

The incident started at 9:21 a.m. when the trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Sasha Ann Pishko, 20, on southbound Interstate-95 near Exit 61, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

During the traffic stop, the GBI said Pishko drove off and struck the trooper with her car. The trooper then fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, investigators said.

Pishko drove a short distance before crashing the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the GBI said.

The trooper suffered minor injuries, investigators said.

An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation by the GBI.
