Teen shot during drive-by in Magnolia Gardens

ID=4779375JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An alleged drive-by shooting in Magnolia Gardens sent a teen to the hospital Wednesday.

Police responded to UF Health Jacksonville around 5:15 p.m. after a male teen victim with a gunshot wound to the back showed up in the emergency room, according to a report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The victim and a friend told police they were walking near the intersection of West 45th Street and Cleveland Road around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday when black four-door car traveling Westbound on on 45th St. passed the teens, made a U-turn and someone inside the car allegedly fired shots at them, the report detailed. One of the teens was hit in the back and the other flagged down a passing car to ask the driver for a ride to the hospital.

Police responded to the intersection where the alleged shooting occurred around 6 p.m., which is close to George Washington Carver Elementary school, and did not find a crime scene. Witnesses in the area interviewed by JSO claimed they did not see or hear anything related to the shooting.
