JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Riverside residents are getting fed up with porch pirates targeting packages in their neighborhood. Over the weekend, multiple homes were hit along Ernest and Dellwood Avenue.

“We always have to watch out for each other and it’s hard because the minute a package gets left out, it’s gone,” a Riverside resident said. “We’ve seen people in broad daylight stealing packages, trying to break into cars or homes and unfortunately, it’s happening everywhere.”

Surveillance video in Jacksonville Heights on 9000 Berens Street shows a man allegedly following a FedEx truck and taking packages left behind on porches.

“We all have to work, it would be nice if they would get a job and try like everyone else because there are so many resources,” another resident said.

Under United States Code 18 Section 1708, federal mail theft is a felony. If you are charged with mail theft, you could face up to five years in federal prison and fines of up to $250,000.
