JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 18-year-old student faces a felony charge after authorities say he brought a loaded handgun to Terry Parker High School last Friday.

The gun, which had six live .22 caliber rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, was found during a classroom search ordered by a teacher after an argument broke out about 12:40 p.m., according to an arrest report.

The student, identified as 18-year-old Tyquan Charles Solomon, allegedly told investigators someone named Leroy had threatened to kill him and "he was afraid," the report said.

Solomon was booked into the Duval County Jail Friday on a felony charge of possession of a firearm on school property. He was released Saturday after posting $15,000 bond, jail records show.

While the search was taking place, Solomon removed something from his pocket and put it inside a blue folder he had on his lap, a witness told investigators. The gun was later found inside the folder.

The school was not placed on lockdown during the incident, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, but parents were notified.
