JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a 2-year-old child is in "critical yet stable" condition after being seriously injured inside a home in Englewood Tuesday night.

At 9:15 p.m, JSO was called to the 2400 block of Jernigan Road in reference to a child with a serious injury. JSO did not disclose the kind of injury, but neighbors told First Coast News they heard a distinct gunshot then saw the toddler being carried out to an ambulance.
