JSO told the media this week that the suspect broke into an apartment with a gun and forced a young woman and her dad into their bedroom where he sexually battered the woman.

JSO said a detective noticed a vehicle on the 200 block of Bay Street, just blocks from the sheriff's office, and a man who matched the suspect description. He made contact with the suspect, which revealed he was wanted for child support.

The detective brought the suspect in for questioning. Meanwhile, the victim came downtown and picked the suspect out of a photo lineup.

JSO revealed that the vehicle the suspect was driving was a rental car. His jacket described in the alert by JSO was also found in the vehicle, as well as a hat with red and white lettering.

His bond is set at $1.35 million.

In the police report released by JSO Thursday, they commended the officer who saw McGhee, saying, "Outstanding working Detective Vorpahl. Your keen eye for detail broke this case and a violent felon is now off the street."

Residents at the Terraces at the Town Center apartment complex on the Southside where the attack occurred tell First Coast News they received an email from management Thursday updating them on the case and saying they will be increasing surveillance in the complex.
