A registered sex offender was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and sexual battery of a child under 13 last October, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO arrested Eric Junior Felton, 49, Tuesday. Police said he approached the victim in an unknown vehicle while she was walking along the 2100 block of W. 45th St. on October 9 around 4 p.m.

Police said Felton threw his cell phone out the window when he got close to her and asked her to pick it up for him. When she was distracted, he got out of the car and then forced her inside of the vehicle. He then drove to an alley behind FSCJ's downtown campus where he sexually battered her and released her after, according to the police report.

Felton is a registered sex offender following an incident that happened in Kings, N.Y. in 2012.

Felton was charged with sexual battery.
