A man is dead after a shooting on the Southside Friday night, just a few miles from the St. Johns Town Center, according to police.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says they received several 911 calls around 9 p.m. in reference to gunfire at the Century of Deerwood Apartments located at 8450 Gate Parkway W.
When police arrived on the scene they found a man in his early 20s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Several witnesses told police they saw a man wearing dark clothing running through the apartment complex after the shooting, however, police say they have no suspects at this time.
JSO says the incident took place in the parking lot.
