Police looking for answers after car hits tree, catches on fire in Murray Hill

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run accident in the Murray Hill area that occurred around midnight on Wednesday.

According to JSO, at 12:03 a.m. patrol officers responded to a traffic crash with injuries in the 3200 block of Roosevelt Blvd.  Upon arrival, officers observed a pickup truck that had hit a tree and was on fire.  

Next to the car, they also found an adult male on the ground who was unconscious.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department put out the vehicle fire and treated the victim. He was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.

According to officers, the initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling northbound on Roosevelt Blvd when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree. 

JSO says that witnesses at the scene observed a white male in all black clothing running from the area. K-9 officers searched for the unknown male, but could not found him.
