Police-involved shooting reported on the Northside; suspect hospitalized

No officers were injured, JSO said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A suspect is hospitalized Saturday night after a police-involved shooting on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said they were conducting an undercover operation in the 9200 block of Lem Turner Road near Soutel Drive around 9 p.m. on suspects in a rash of armed robberies.

At the scene, police saw two males approaching that matched the description of the suspects in the armed robberies.

Police told the men to get on the ground, one man obeyed and police were able to take him into custody. The other man tried to flee the scene, police said.

JSO said officers then chased after that man and fired at him as he was fleeing.

Police said the man was hit by gunfire, and taken to the hospital where he is recovering.

Both men were found with guns in their possession, JSO said.

Police said that no officers were injured.

At this time, we do not know the identity of anyone involved in this incident.
