"You’re going to think we’re full of hot air when you read this.." said Marion County Sheriff's Office on Facebook on Sunday. "...But for the first time in our 175 years of existence, we recovered a stolen hot air balloon!"
Deputies in Marion County (MCSO) were contacted by the Bloomington Police Department in Indiana over the weekend and were told that a stolen hot air balloon was spotted at The Villages Hot Air Balloon Festival.
MCSO deputies were able to confirm the call wasn't just a gas, and that it was indeed the stolen balloon in question.
Deputies say that owner wasn't full of hot air over the incident and told deputies that they didn't want to press charges. He said he just wanted his balloon back.
The balloon was towed and will be returned to its proper owner. Basket and all.
