JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after he was shot during a home invasion on the Westside Saturday night, police said.

At 7:15 p.m. police responded to a home located at 2055 Hyde Park Road in reference to a home invasion robbery, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

At the home, police found a man had been shot. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.

Police determined that the man who had been shot forcefully entered into a home containing three individuals. After entering the home a fight broke out with that individual and the occupants of the home resulting in the man's death, police said.

Two men fled the home on foot and there is no description of them at this time, police said.

Several witnesses are being interviewed by police about this incident and JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene Unit are investigating, according to police.

The identity of the man shot and killed during this incident has not been released.
