Minor hospitalized after shooting on the Northside

A minor sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being shot on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A minor is expected to be OK after being shot in Jacksonville's Northside Sunday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO said at around 6:15 p.m., officers heard gunshots in the area of the 600 block of Chesnut Drive. At the same time, officers also received reports of a minor arriving at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

JSO soon determined the two incidents were related and their investigation brought them to the intersection of Duray Street and Elwood Avenue. 

JSO said officers do not have a description of any suspects, however, police said there is no reason to believe the public is in any immediate danger.
