The Lake City Police Department is on the lookout for a person of interest in a shooting that left one person critically injured.
LCPD has named John Carlos Williams, 22, as a person of interest in the shooting which occurred Thursday at 1:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Southeast St. Johns Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the victim at a nearby residence with a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to UF Health Care Center in Gainesville where he remains in critical condition. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of kin, according to LCPD.
Police say attempts to locate Williams were unsuccessful because he is evading detection.
“Our investigators have worked tirelessly throughout last night and today to track down a person of interest in this case,” said LCPD Chief Dr. Argatha Gilmore. “We are asking anyone with more information about what happened to step forward.”
