Shots ring out as gunshot victim is speaking with police after Saturday shooting incident

When police arrived on the scene at the intersection of West 12th Street and St. Clair Street they found that a man had been shot multiple times.

A man sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting in Northwest Jacksonville Saturday night, according to police.

According to an incident report, police were initially dispatched to assist security guards with dispersing a large party. Before arriving on scene, they were advised via dispatch that there was a victim with gunshot wounds at the same location. 

When police arrived on the scene they found a victim lying in the courtyard across the street from 2913 W 12th St.

The victim told police that he drove across the 2200 block of St Clair St when an unknown vehicle pulled on his left side and started shooting at him. The victim said he does not know who was in the vehicle and he did not get into an argument with anyone at the party. 

While speaking with the victim, approximately 7-8 shots were fired in the field East of St. Clair St on 12th St

He was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. police said.

According to police, there were no witnesses found at the scene, but a vehicle with multiple people inside was stopped leaving the scene containing a gun, JSO said.

This incident is still under investigation. 

At this time JSO has not released any further information about a suspect or vehicle description.
