A man was found dead outside of a car with upper body trauma in Columbia County on Thursday.
Around 7 p.m., the Columbia County Sheriff's Office responded to the 300 block of SW Donovan Glenn in reference to a person shot.
Once on the scene, they located a dead man with upper body trauma laying near a running vehicle. Deputies identified the man as Linville Curtis, 54, of Lake City.
Curtis was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jacksonville where the cause of death will be determined.
“Our detectives and deputies will work around the clock to solve this heinous crime and give closure to the family.” Sheriff Mark Hunter said. “With crimes of this nature, the first few days are critical, therefore if you have information please contact us immediately.”
Detectives are asking anyone who had contact with Curtis on Feb.13 between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to please call and speak to a detective at 386-758-1095.
