The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying the driver who reportedly robbed a man while giving him a ride on the Westside.

Police said the victim was in the 6400 block of Wilson Boulevard waiting for a car service to pick him up when the suspect arrived saying he was his driver.

Prior to arriving at the designated location, the suspect stopped the vehicle, beat-up and robbed the victim, then took off, JSO said.

The suspect then tried to use the victim's credit card at several locations on the Westside, they said.

Police have identified the suspect's vehicle as a red Chevrolet with a spoiler on the rear trunk lid. The front hubcaps are both missing and the left-rear hubcap appears to be damaged. There is also damage to the driver’s door and the paint on the hood is faded.

Anyone with information on the identity of this man or if you have seen the vehicle is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS to be eligible for a possible reward.
