16-year-old boy shot and killed in parking lot of apartment complex in NW Jacksonville

Police found the teen lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. The boy died on the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a teenage boy was found dead with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Northwest Jacksonville Monday. 

Police responded to the Hilltop Village Apartments at 1646 W. 45th St. around 2:56 p.m. after reports of gunshots. 

Upon arrival, police found a 16-year-old boy unresponsive lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. 

JSO and Duval County Schools police both initially responded to the shooting, as the apartment complex is near St. Clair Evans Academy. 

JSO has no potential suspect information as they are currently interviewing witnesses and investigating the incident. 

This shooting comes just two days after the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville called for a week-long ceasefire of all violence in Jacksonville.

It's the first shooting since the call for the ceasefire.
