JSO releases possible suspect vehicle in killing of third black transgender woman in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking tips on a vehicle that may be connected to the shooting death of a 24-year-old transgender woman at a Southside hotel.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is seeking tips on a vehicle that may be connected to the shooting death of a 24-year-old transgender woman at a Southside hotel.

Cathalina Christina James was found shot to death on Sunday in the 8300 block of Dix Ellis Trail. She was a transgender woman who also went by the names Esha Wilson, Chris James and Iesha, according to JSO.

The vehicle appears to be a white sedan. After the shooting took place, the suspect entered the passenger side of the vehicle and fled the scene.

James was the third confirmed black transgender woman killed in Jacksonville this year.

Antash’a English, 38, died from a shooting on June 1 and Celine Walker, 36, died Feb. 4 from a gunshot wound at a hotel in the Southpoint area.
