A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officer's health is improving after he was seriously injured during a DUI crash that killed another JSO employee last weekend, according to Peter Moberg, the spokesperson for Memorial Hospital.
Moberg said William "Jack" Adams, who is a JSO motorman, upgraded from critical condition to serious condition.
Around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Jack Adams was driving along I-95 near SR-16 with his wife and JSO court bailiff Cathy Adams and their two teens when they were struck by a suspected drunk driver Sunday morning.
Jack Adams was transported to the hospital with a serious neck injury, as well as several broken bones and possible brain injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
His wife was placed on life support, but she later died Sunday night. Their two teens suffered minor injuries and were released from the hospital.
Forty-six-year-old Kim Johnston was charged with two counts of DUI and serious bodily injury to another. She was placed on $100,000 bond and bailed out on Monday.
