A woman was shot in the face Friday night during a shooting near a Norwood area gas station, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to 6105 Norwood Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.

At the scene, officers found a 39-year-old woman suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took her to UF Shands for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

After initial investigations, police determined at least five rounds were shot in the direction of the gas station, with an attached convenience store. Casings from the gun were also found in the park across the street from the business and two vehicles also seemed to have been struck by gunfire, according to police.

Detectives from JSO's Violent Crimes Unit were called to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 904-630-0500
