Father, daughter shot at Westside apartment complex

A father and 14-year-old daughter were shot outside the Cross Creek Apartments in Westside, Saturday.

A father and his 14-year-old daughter were both shot Saturday evening outside a Westside apartment complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The two victims were found at the Cross Creek Apartments at 1441 Manotak Ave. at 6 p.m. after JSO was called to the scene.

The 39-year-old father sustained a gunshot wound to his upper chest and his daughter was shot in her right upper leg, JSO said.

The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies say.

JSO has not announced any suspects in the case.

Police are interviewing witnesses and are reviewing surveillance video to gain insight on what led up to the shooting.

The apartment complex has been the scene of multiple shootings in the past.

In October, a man was struck in the thigh by a stray bullet that managed to pass through his apartment walls. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

That same month, a woman was found shot to death in the parking lot of the Cross Creek Apartments.

In May 2018, a 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times in the back. His injuries were also non-life-threatening.

If you have any information regarding Saturday evening's shooting, call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
