A woman was flown to the burn unit in Gainesville after a suspect doused her in a liquid and set her on fire in a Jacksonville Golden Corral Wednesday night, police say.

There is surveillance video of the event, where the man walked into the Golden Corral on Normandy in the Westside and then set the employee on fire. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the restaurant was packed when the attack occurred.

According to a police report Whipple walked behind the dessert counter where the woman was working and doused her in a liquid substance. He then pulled out a lighter and lit the woman on fire.

Police say Whipple then exited Golden Corral, sat down and waited for police to arrive.

Police say Darryl Whipple was arrested and is charged with attempted murder charge, police say. Investigators added the man and the woman do know each other, but they would not elaborate on the connection.
