Woman arrested on D.U.I charges after allegedly driving car into people on bus bench in Jax Beach

Police say that the occupants of the car ran from the scene on foot, but police were later able to locate them.

A 25-year-old woman faces charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident after Jacksonville Beach Police say she drove her car into two people on a bus bench in front of Jacksonville Beach City Hall.

Taylor Deyarah Wells of Jacksonville faces charges of DUI, leaving an accident without rendering aid and driving on a suspended license. As of Monday morning, she remains in jail on almost a $20,000 bond.

Police say around 1:40 a.m. a silver four-door Chevrolet was traveling west on 1st Ave. N. As the vehicle entered the intersection it struck a white truck then veered east striking a bus stop located at the intersection of 1st Ave. N. and 3rd St. N.

Two pedestrians were sitting on the bench, police said. The individuals were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries but are expected to recover.

Police say that the occupants of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot, but police were later able to find them. 

It's unclear if anyone in the car was charged.

According to court records, Wells previously faced a 2017 battery and misdemeanor possession charges that were dropped. She also received four prior traffic citations, including a 2016 speeding charge, but most charges were dropped by prosecutors.
