UPDATE: Road repairs complete in St. Augustine, library open after 20-foot hole opens up

According to the St. Augustine Police Department, San Marco Avenue was shut down for several hours in between May and Dismuke Street due to the presence of the hole.

Road repairs have been completed after 20-foot wide hole opened up in St. Augustine on Thursday.

The hole opened up on San Marco Ave. near May St. in St. Augustine on Thursday around noon, shutting down the road and adjacent library which has since reopened.

According to the St. Augustine Police Department, San Marco Avenue was shut down for several hours in between May and Dismuke Street due to the presence of the hole.

St. Augustine public works say the hole was caused by a hundred-year-old iron pipe that burst due to temperature changes.
