GoFundMe accounts launched to help Jacksonville officers injured in carjacking chase

35-year-old Officer Josh Wiggins was one of two officers hurt in the high-speed chase between Mayport and East Arlington.

Two online fundraisers were set up for the two Jacksonville Sheriff's officers injured during a high-speed chase between Mayport and East Arlington last week.

The chase happened last Wednesday after the suspect, Lawrence J. Hall III allegedly robbed a Mayport-area internet cafe before kidnapping 84-year-old Louis Reese. It ended when Hall crashed into a concrete power pole on Atlantic Boulevard, police said.

Among the injured included two JSO officers: 35-year-old Josh Wiggins and 29-year-old Christopher Rouselle.

Wiggins received significant injuries to his hip, leg and knee when he was hit near Wonderwood Drive. A GoFundMe account to help his recovery is at gofundme.com/officer-wiggins-support. He has undergone two surgeries so far and may need more, the site said.

Rouselle was also hospitalized with chest injuries and multiple broken bones after he crashed his police vehicle into the back of the vehicle Hall was driving, according to the GoFundMe account

The hospital spokesperson told First Coast News that Rouselle was discharged on Tuesday.

Hall, charged with attempted murder and fleeing law enforcement, also remains hospitalized after his arrest.
