You know those days when you're craving your favorite restaurant, but you don't want to get in the car and drive there? Well, Uber Eats and other delivery apps will bring it to you for a fee. Or, you could go for a restaurant that delivers on its own. The question comes down to which option will give you more bang for your buck?

To keep things as equal as possible, I ordered a sandwich and a soda from Jimmy John's. Compare that to a similarly priced order on Uber Eats from Firehouse Subs.

My order on Uber Eats was $7.69. Tack on the tax, small order fee, service fee, delivery fee and tip, and my total went from $7.69 to $17.87!

My order with Jimmy John's was $7.26. With tax, delivery and tip, that was just $11.71.

In this particular case, ordering from Jimmy John's ended up $6.16 cheaper.

With that being said, the draw of Uber Eats isn't that it's supposed to be cheaper, but that you get more delivery options from more restaurants. Also, some Uber Eats partners have lowered delivery fees, but one way or another, getting things that aren't normally delivered is going to cost you.

But what if you're looking for a bite that's quick and convenient and you want to get the most bang for your buck? It does appear that in most cases, traditional delivery is your best bet.
