Making Ends Meet: Cut costs and get cash back at the pump

You asked for ways to save on gas. We have the answers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Filling up the gas tank has been brutal for the past few months and you all have been asking how can you save money on gas.

We are helping you make ends meet.

Grab your phone. The Upside app and Gas Buddy are your new best friends.

Put your credit card information in when you download Upside. Use the map feature to find a gas station near you offering a deal.

You might even find 10 cents off per gallon. That money goes back to you through the app.

Start making it your regular stop and you’ll stack up cash back quickly. You can cash out once you reach a certain dollar amount.

TIP: Upside also offers deals on local restaurants.

You can also open a card through Gas Buddy. It is not a credit card.

Gas Buddy will connect the card to your checking account. Use it at the pump to get major deals, like 25 cents off per gallon, that are immediate.

Your last ditch effort is to join gas station rewards programs.

If you go to the same gas station every week, start stacking up rewards. It’s free to join and stations take money off at the pump or offer other deals inside on food and beverages.

The national average gas price as of July 11 is $4.67, according to AAA. In Florida, $4.41.

Layer these deals and save yourself some extra cash.
